About the Job
The Commis – Chinese Cuisine is responsible for assisting in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of Chinese dishes while maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene, and kitchen cleanliness. The role supports senior chefs in daily kitchen operations and ensures smooth workflow within the section.

Key Responsibilities

Food Preparation & Cooking

  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of Chinese cuisine dishes according to recipes and company standards.
  • Prepare ingredients such as vegetables, meats, sauces, marinades, and garnishes.
  • Support senior chefs during food service operations.
  • Ensure food is prepared and presented consistently and attractively.
  • Monitor portion control and minimize food wastage.
Kitchen Operations

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and workstations.
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment is handled properly and maintained in good condition.
  • Follow kitchen opening and closing procedures.
  • Assist in receiving and storing food deliveries appropriately.
Food Safety & Hygiene

  • Follow HACCP and food safety standards at all times.
  • Ensure proper food storage, labeling, and temperature control.
  • Maintain personal hygiene and cleanliness standards.
  • Comply with company health and safety regulations.
Team Support

  • Work closely with chefs and kitchen team members to ensure smooth operations.
  • Support colleagues during busy operational hours.
  • Be willing to learn new cooking techniques and menu items.
  • Participate in training and development programs when required.
Requirements

  • Previous experience in a Chinese kitchen or similar role is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of Chinese cuisine and cooking techniques.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Physically fit and able to stand for long hours.
